Wednesday update: One area of York now has a coronavirus case rate above 570

Another 199 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Wednesday, 9 March).

That takes the cumulative case total to 56,084 – giving an overall infection rate of 26,578.6 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 1,064 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 358 (50.7%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 386.2 new cases per 100,000 people (815 cases in the week to 5 March). It was 363 yesterday.

The English national average is 350.4, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 253.1.

There has been one coronavirus death in the City of York Council area in the last seven days (no change).
