Wednesday update: Another coronavirus death in York as case rate climbs

Another 112 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Wednesday, 11 August).

That takes the cumulative case total to 18,356 – giving an overall infection rate of 8,699 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 699 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 91 (15%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 344.2 new cases per 100,000 people (725 cases in the week to 7 August). That’s up from 255.9 in the previous seven days (539 cases in the week to 31 July).

The English national average is 296.6, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 375.7.

There was one coronavirus death in the City of York Council area reported today, and three in the last seven days (as at 11 August).

  • 6,601 in Hambleton (up 28) – 241.5

  • 4,071 in Richmondshire (up 21) – 264.3
  • 4,355 in Craven (up 24) – 245.9.

There was one coronavirus-related death reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That takes the total to 609 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).

There were three coronavirus patients admitted to the York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust trust on 1 August, and 29 in the previous seven days (down five).
