Wednesday update: 143 more coronavirus cases confirmed in York

Another 143 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Wednesday, 7 July).

That takes the cumulative case total to 14,642 – giving an overall infection rate of 6,951.9 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 839 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 72 (9.4%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 413.5 new cases per 100,000 people (871 cases in the week to 3 July). That’s up from 297.2 in the previous seven days (626 cases in the week to 26 June).

The English national average is 252, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 317.9.

There have been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and one in the last seven days (as at 7 July).

In North Yorkshire, there were 281 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 34,386 – an infection rate of 5,563.6 cases per 100K.

There are

  • 2,110 cases in Ryedale (up 15) – case rate 164.3 per 100K
  • 5,992 in Selby (up 51) – 273.7
  • 9,036 in Harrogate (up 73) – 305.3
  • 4,752 in Hambleton (up 53) – 217.3
  • 6,164 in Scarborough (up 52) – 198.6
  • 3,052 in Richmondshire (up 24) – 266.1
  • 3,280 in Craven (up 13) – 276.5.

There were no coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 594 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals). The last death was reported on 5 July.

There were no coronavirus patients admitted to the trust on 27 June, and seven in the previous seven days (up one).
