With a final wave to the crowds outside York Minster, the King and Queen Consort were whisked away by limo.
They had spent some time touring the cathedral’s new restaurant, York Minster Refectory. It is due to open to the public on 20 April.
Those still waiting outside the Minster gave the royal couple one final cheer.
