Tuesday update: York coronavirus cases continue to dwindle

Another 21 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Tuesday, 16 February).

It takes the cumulative total to 11,605 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,510 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 170 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – a decrease of 87 (-33.9%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 85.5 new cases per 100,000 people (180 cases in the week to 12 February). That’s down from 141.0 in the previous seven days (297 cases in the week to 5 February).

The English national average is 148.8, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 159.2.

There have been six more coronavirus-related deaths in the York council area, and 18 in the last seven days (up two / 12.5%).

In North Yorkshire, there were 52 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 27,282  – an infection rate of 4,414.2 cases per 100K.

There are 1,726 cases in Ryedale (up three), 4,415 in Selby (up ten), 7,059 in Harrogate (up 17), 3,913 in Hambleton (up seven), 5,193 in Scarborough (up three), 2,378 in Richmondshire (up six) and 2,598 in Craven (up six).

There were eight more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

That takes the total to 555 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).
