Tuesday update: Some areas of York see Covid cases fall by 100+ in a week

Another 284 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Tuesday, 18 January).

That takes the cumulative case total to 43,845 – giving an overall infection rate of 20,778.4 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 1,936 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down 1,193 (-38.1%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 852.6 new cases per 100,000 people (1,799 cases in the week to 14 January). That’s down from 1,616.5 in the previous seven days (3,411 cases in the week to 7 January).

The English national average is 1,030.9, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 1,205.2.

There was one coronavirus death in the City of York Council area reported today, and three in the last seven days (as at 18 January).
