Tuesday update: Coronavirus cases fall in almost all areas of York

Another 55 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Tuesday, 27 July).

That takes the cumulative case total to 16,962 – giving an overall infection rate of 8,053.4 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 554 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down 471 (-46.0%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 301.0 new cases per 100,000 people (634 cases in the week to 23 July). That’s down from 504.7 in the previous seven days (1,063 cases in the week to 16 July).

The English national average is 447.6, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 533.7.

There have been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and one in the last seven days (as at 27 July).

In North Yorkshire, there were 160 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 42,102 – an infection rate of 6,812 cases per 100K.

There are:

  • 2,489 cases in Ryedale (up 7) – case rate 269.1 per 100K
  • 7,079 in Selby (up 21) – 491.1
  • 10,939 in Harrogate (up 31) – 441.5
  • 6,136 in Hambleton (up 26) – 554.6
  • 7,618 in Scarborough (up 40) – 503.9
  • 3,772 in Richmondshire (up 17) – 435.5
  • 4,069 in Craven (up 18) – 561.8.

There were no coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 601 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals). The last death was reported on 21 July.

There were four coronavirus patients admitted to the trust on 18 July, and 30 in the previous seven days (up six).
