Tuesday update: Another 299 coronavirus cases in York and North Yorkshire

Another 78 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Tuesday, 3 August).

That takes the cumulative case total to 17,375 – giving an overall infection rate of 8,282.3 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 560 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up six (1.1%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 251.2 new cases per 100,000 people (529 cases in the week to 30 July). That’s down from 301.5 in the previous seven days (635 cases in the week to 23 July).

The English national average is 292.4, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 359.6.

There have been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and none in the last seven days (as at 3 August).

In North Yorkshire, there were 221 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 43,692 – an infection rate of 7,069.3 cases per 100K.

There are:

  • 2,571 cases in Ryedale (up 9) – case rate 175.2 per 100K
  • 7,342 in Selby (up 44) – 259.3
  • 11,377 in Harrogate (up 64) – 259.9
  • 6,362 in Hambleton (up 26) – 276.2
  • 7,921 in Scarborough (up 39) – 291.5
  • 3,912 in Richmondshire (up 15) – 277.3
  • 4,207 in Craven (up 24) – 246.8.

There were no coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 601 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals). The last death was reported on 21 July.

There were five coronavirus patients admitted to the York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust trust on 25 July, and 34 in the previous seven days (up four).
