Tuesday update: Another 189 coronavirus cases confirmed in York

A further 189 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Tuesday, 5 January).

It takes the cumulative total to 8,080 – giving an overall infection rate of 3,836.3 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days there have been 1,190 positive Covid-19 tests in York – an increase of 573 (92.9%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 496.6 new cases per 100,000 people (1,046 cases in the week to 1 January). That’s up from 236.4 in the previous seven days (498 cases in the week to 25 December).

In North Yorkshire, there were 339 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 19,353  – an infection rate of 3,131.3 cases per 100K.

There are 1,156 cases in Ryedale (up 18), 3,025 in Selby (up 62), 4,883 in Harrogate (up 95), 2,591 in Hambleton (up 50), 4,242 in Scarborough (up 38), 1,568 in Richmondshire (up 29) and 1,888 in Craven (up 47).

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 385 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).
