Tuesday update: 49 new coronavirus cases in York and North Yorkshire

Ten more coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Tuesday, 8 June).

That takes the cumulative total to 12,494 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,932.1 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 70 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 16 (29.6%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 29.4 new cases per 100,000 people (62 cases in the week to 4 June). That’s up from 21.4 in the previous seven days (45 cases in the week to 28 May).

The English national average is 44.2, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 46.9.

There have been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area in the last seven days.

In North Yorkshire, there were 39 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 30,497 – an infection rate of 4,934.4 cases per 100K.

There are 1,898 cases in Ryedale (up one), 5,294 in Selby (up 12), 7,834 in Harrogate (up 12), 4,275 in Hambleton (up six), 5,653 in Scarborough (up one), 2,667 in Richmondshire (up three) and 2,876 in Craven (up four).

There were no coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 592 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals). The last death was reported on 3 June.
