Thursday update: York coronavirus case rate falls below 500

A further 99 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Thursday, 22 July).

That takes the cumulative case total to 16,634 – giving an overall infection rate of 7,897.7 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 913 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down 23 (-2.5%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 489.0 new cases per 100,000 people (1,030 cases in the week to 18 July). That’s up from 417.3 in the previous seven days (879 cases in the week to 11 July).

The English national average is 529.1, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 634.8.

There have been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and one in the last seven days (as at 22 July).

In North Yorkshire, there were 436 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 40,887 – an infection rate of 6,615.4 cases per 100K.

There are:

  • 2,416 cases in Ryedale (up 24) – case rate 305.2 per 100K
  • 6,907 in Selby (up 76) – 528.6
  • 10,653 in Harrogate (up 100) – 513.6
  • 5,926 in Hambleton (up 69) – 672.5
  • 7,377 in Scarborough (up 82) – 640.9
  • 3,673 in Richmondshire (up 30) – 668.2
  • 3,935 in Craven (up 55) – 712.3.

There were no coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 601 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals). The last death was reported on 21 July.

There were four coronavirus patients admitted to the trust on 18 July, and 30 in the previous seven days (up six).
