Thursday update: Second coronavirus death in two days at the York NHS Trust

Another 115 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Thursday, 5 August) – along with the second death at the York NHS Trust in two days.

That takes the cumulative case total to 17,772 – giving an overall infection rate of 8,422.3 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 632 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 126 (24.9%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 259.7 new cases per 100,000 people (547 cases in the week to 1 August). That’s down from 261.1 in the previous seven days (550 cases in the week to 25 July).

The English national average is 283.7, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 357.3.

There were no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and one in the last seven days (as at 5 August).

In North Yorkshire, there were 252 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 44,198 – an infection rate of 7,121.7 cases per 100K.

There are:

  • 2,609 cases in Ryedale (up 13) – case rate 165.4 per 100K
  • 7,433 in Selby (up 49) – 265
  • 11,524 in Harrogate (up 73) – 250.1
  • 6,425 in Hambleton (up 29) – 260
  • 8,009 in Scarborough (up 51) – 296.1
  • 3,955 in Richmondshire (up 15) – 268
  • 4,243 in Craven (up 22) – 223.2.

There was one coronavirus-related death reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That takes the total to 603 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).

There were three coronavirus patients admitted to the York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust trust on 1 August, and 29 in the previous seven days (down five).
