Thursday update: Five areas of York now have more than 50 coronavirus cases

Another 147 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Thursday, 18 November).

That takes the cumulative case total to 27,659 – giving an overall infection rate of 13,107.8 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 921 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 98 (11.9%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 444.1 new cases per 100,000 people (937 cases in the week to 14 November). That’s up from 367.3 in the previous seven days (775 cases in the week to 7 November).

The English national average is 384.9, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 366.1.

There were no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and none in the last seven days (as at 18 November).

In North Yorkshire, there were 562 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 82,255 – an infection rate of 13,253.9 cases per 100K.

There are:

  • 5,828 cases in Ryedale (up 70) – 492.5 case rate per 100K
  • 13,379 in Selby (up 83) – 631.4
  • 23,012 in Harrogate (up 151) – 515.6
  • 11,252 in Hambleton (up 58) – 401.4
  • 14,840 in Scarborough (up 117) – 504.9
  • 6,508 in Richmondshire (up 53) – 387.1
  • 7,436 in Craven (up 30) – 334.9.

Due to a technical fault at the NHS, the update on coronavirus-related deaths at UK hospitals wasn’t published today.

Yesterday, the total had reached 695 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).

There were three coronavirus patients admitted to the York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust trust on 14 November, and 72 patients in hospital on 16 November. In the previous seven days, 48 Covid patients were admitted – up 13.
