Thursday update: First coronavirus death at York NHS Trust for six weeks

The first Covid-19 related death at the York NHS Trust for six weeks was recorded today (Thursday, 3 June).

And another 11 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York.

That takes the cumulative total to 12,439 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,906 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 55 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 15 (37.5%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 26.6 new cases per 100,000 people (56 cases in the week to 30 May). That’s up from 14.7 in the previous seven days (31 cases in the week to 23 May).

The English national average is 32.4, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 38.5.

There have been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area in the last seven days.

In North Yorkshire, there were 29 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 30,345 – an infection rate of 4,909.8 cases per 100K.

There are 1,895 cases in Ryedale (up one), 5,248 in Selby (up nine), 7,788 in Harrogate (up seven), 4,251 in Hambleton (up five), 5,645 in Scarborough (up three), 2,657 in Richmondshire (up one) and 2,861 in Craven (up three).

There was one more coronavirus-related death reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That takes the total to 592 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).

There was one coronavirus patient admitted to the trust on 30 May, and two in the last seven days.
