Thursday update: Eight more coronavirus deaths at York NHS Trust

Eight more people have died after contracting coronavirus in the York NHS Trust, the latest figures showed today (Thursday, 26 November).

And another 29 coronavirus cases were confirmed today in York.

The latest cases take the cumulative total to 5,576 – giving an overall infection rate of 2,647.4 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days there have been 231 positive Covid-19 tests in York – a decrease of 776 (77.1%) week on week. That drop is exceptional as it is comes in the week after 702 tests were added to the total on 16 November due to a recalibration of the weekly figures.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 126.8 new cases per 100,000 people (267 cases in the week to 22 November). That’s down from 173.3 in the previous seven days (365 cases in the week to 15 November).

At the University of York, there were 47 individuals self isolating due to a positive Covid-19 test today. Since the previous update on Wednesday it has been notified of seven new cases, included in that figure.

At York St John University, there were nine people self isolating due to a positive test on Sunday.

In North Yorkshire, there were 116 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 12,956 – an infection rate of 2,096.3 cases per 100K.

There are 703 cases in Ryedale (up 13), 2,052 in Selby (up 26), 3,500 in Harrogate (up 23), 1,675 in Hambleton (up 12), 2,808 in Scarborough (up 21), 960 in Richmondshire (up 13) and 1,250 in Craven (up eight).

There were eight more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today. We don’t have individual numbers between York and Scarborough Hospitals

That takes the total to 288.
