Thursday update: 63 more coronavirus cases in York

Another 63 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Thursday, 28 January).

It takes the cumulative total to 10,919 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,184.3 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 453 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – a decrease of 291 (-39.1%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 255.9 new cases per 100,000 people (539 cases in the week to 24 January). That’s up from 408.3 in the previous seven days (860 cases in the week to 17 January).

The English national average is 373.2, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 242.3.

There have been five more coronavirus-related deaths in the York council area, and 26 in the last seven days (down one / -3.7%).

In North Yorkshire, there were 139 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 25,282  – an infection rate of 4,090.6 cases per 100K.

There are 1,578 cases in Ryedale (up 11), 4,059 in Selby (up 21), 6,517 in Harrogate (up 43), 3,566 in Hambleton (up 27), 4,940 in Scarborough (up 16), 2,167 in Richmondshire (up 11) and 2,455 in Craven (up 10).

There were seven more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

That takes the total to 482 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).
