Sunday update: York’s coronavirus rate drops to single figures

The number of coronavirus cases in York has fallen by three today (Sunday, 11 April).

After another adjustment, it leaves the cumulative total at 12,159 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,773 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 16 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down 20 (-55.6%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is nine new cases per 100,000 people.

The English national average is 29.3, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 64.3.

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths in the York council area today, and none in the last seven days (down two / 0%).

In North Yorkshire, there were 18 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 29,394  – an infection rate of 4,755.9 cases per 100K.

There are 1,861 cases in Ryedale (up four), 4,878 in Selby (up seven), 7,585 in Harrogate (up one), 4,171 in Hambleton (no change), 5,517 in Scarborough (up five), 2,603 in Richmondshire (up one) and 2,779 in Craven (no change).

There were two more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That takes the total to 587 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).
