Sunday update: York coronavirus rate overtakes the national average

A further 73 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Sunday, 8 August).
That takes the cumulative case total to 18,067 – giving an overall infection rate of 8,562.1 cases per 100,000 people.
In the last seven days 692 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 157 (29.3%) week on week.
The rolling seven-day rate in York is 291.9 new cases per 100,000 people (616 cases in the week to 4 August).
The English national average is 283.9, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 362.3.
There were no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and one in the last seven days (as at 8 August).
