Sunday update: Just 12 coronavirus cases in York – but rate creeps up

Another 12 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Sunday, 28 February).

It takes the cumulative total to 11,853 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,627.7 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 132 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – a decrease of 17 (-11.4%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 81.7 new cases per 100,000 people – up from 77.4 yesterday.

The English national average is 107.8, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 146.3.

There have been no more coronavirus-related deaths in the York council area, and four in the last seven days (down 11 / -73.3%).

In North Yorkshire, there were 43 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 28,075  – an infection rate of 4,542.5 cases per 100K.

There are 1,789 cases in Ryedale (up three), 4,552 in Selby (up seven), 7,295 in Harrogate (up 15), 4,026 in Hambleton (up five), 5,294 in Scarborough (up seven), 2,470 in Richmondshire (up five) and 2,649 in Craven (up one).

There were no more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 572 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).
