Saturday update: Nine new coronavirus cases in York – and two deaths at the NHS trust

Another nine cases of coronavirus were confirmed in York today (Saturday, 17 April).

That takes the cumulative total to 12,185 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,785.4 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 27 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up seven (35%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 12.3 new cases per 100,000 people.

The English national average is 29, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 60.7.

There was one more coronavirus-related death in the York council area today, and one in the last seven days (0%).

In North Yorkshire, there were 15 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 29,542  – an infection rate of 4,779.8 cases per 100K.

There are 1,873 cases in Ryedale (no change), 4,918 in Selby (up five), 7,626 in Harrogate (up five), 4,181 in Hambleton (no change), 5,536 in Scarborough (no change), 2,613 in Richmondshire (up one) and 2,795 in Craven (up four).

There were two more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That takes the total at 590 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).
