Saturday update: Eight new coronavirus cases in York, six in North Yorkshire

There were eight more coronavirus cases confirmed in York today (Saturday, 22 May).

That takes the cumulative total to 12,354 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,865.6 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 24 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – down nine (-27.3%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 13.3 new cases per 100,000 people.

The English national average is 20.6, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 33.7.

There have been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area in the last seven days.

In North Yorkshire, there were six new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 30,165  – an infection rate of 4,880.6 cases per 100K.

There are 1,894 cases in Ryedale (no change), 5,210 in Selby (up six), 7,733 in Harrogate (up one), 4,226 in Hambleton (down one), 5,608 in Scarborough (no change), 2,650 in Richmondshire (no change) and 2,844 in Craven (no change).

NHS England no longer release figures for deaths in hospital at weekends.
