The RSPCA York centre is switching to an appointment only system for the time being.
In a statement on its website the animal home on Landing Lane said: “In order to safeguard our staff, volunteers and members of the public the animal home has decided to move to an appointment only system for the time being. Please do not come to the centre unless you have an appointment.
“This will allow us to continue with our regular adoption activity while taking on board the governments suggestions for social distancing.”
People hoping to adopt an animal can fill in a form on the website and staff will get back to them.
For everything else please call the centre first on 01904 654949 between 11am and 3pm.
“Our animal residents will continue to require care during the coronavirus outbreak,” the centre says.
“We are taking a cautious but practical approach to the government guidance to ensure we don’t put anyone at unnecessary risk of infection and ensure the home can stay operational for the longest period.”
