Rachael Maskell has backed Emily Thornberry for the Labour leadership.
The York Central MP, recently promoted to be shadow employment rights secretary by outgoing leader Jeremy Corbyn, lent her support to Emily Thornberry.
The shadow foreign secretary was short of the 22 nominations required to make it through to the last stage of the contest until shortly before the 2.30pm deadline, but finally managed to secure 23 – with Ms Maskell’s help.
The MP tweeted:
Today I extended the opportunity for the members to have the widest choice by nominating Emily Thornberry to get her on the paper in the leadership election after Clive Lewis withdrew. Our members must decide.
