Power cut hits York city centre shops

York shops have been hit by a power cut this morning (Thursday).

The electricity went off at 10.34am to properties in the postcode YO1 8SE – which includes Parliament Street.

A Northern Powergrid spokeswoman told YorkMix:

  • We have a fault on our network which is currently affecting three shops in the centre of York.

We have an engineer on site who is liaising with our customers and working to restore supplies.

Our current estimated time for restoring power is 12.30pm.

We thank the stores and shoppers for their patience.

The Grand Opera House also reported an outage this morning:

❗️❗️Thu 6 Feb – Owing to a power outage, it is not currently possible to book tickets via ATG Tickets and the theatre box office and we hope to be back up and running very soon. Apologies for the inconvenience this may cause.
