New Year’s Eve update: More than 200 new coronavirus cases in York

A further 202 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Thursday, 31 December).

It takes the cumulative total to 7,241 – giving an overall infection rate of 3,438 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days there have been 793 positive Covid-19 tests in York – an increase of 350 (79%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 297.7 new cases per 100,000 people (627 cases in the week to 27 December). That’s up from 143.9 in the previous seven days (303 cases in the week to 20 December).

In North Yorkshire, there were 344 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 17,516  – an infection rate of 2,834.1 cases per 100K.

There are 1,028 cases in Ryedale (up 29), 2,756 in Selby (up 39), 4,412 in Harrogate (up 101), 2,321 in Hambleton (up 49), 3,932 in Scarborough (up 51), 1,381 in Richmondshire (up 33) and 1,686 in Craven (up 42).

There were three more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That takes the total to 373 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).

Eight coronavirus patients were admitted to the two York Trust hospitals today, and there are 91 Covid-19 patients in hospital, with six on ventilation.
