Monday update: Nearly 700 new coronavirus cases in York and North Yorkshire

How York stood out on the coronavirus rates map of Monday, 4 January 2021

A further 173 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Monday, 4 January).

It takes the cumulative total to 7,891 – giving an overall infection rate of 3,746.6 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days there have been 1,124 positive Covid-19 tests in York – an increase of 523 (87%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 462.9 new cases per 100,000 people (975 cases in the week to 31 December). That’s up from 241.7 in the previous seven days (509 cases in the week to 24 December).

In North Yorkshire, there were 523 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 19,014  – an infection rate of 3,076.4 cases per 100K.

There are 1,138 cases in Ryedale (up 26), 2,963 in Selby (up 89), 4,788 in Harrogate (up 141), 2,541 in Hambleton (up 70), 4,204 in Scarborough (up 86), 1,539 in Richmondshire (up 59) and 1,841 in Craven (up 52).

There were five more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That takes the total to 385 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).

Eight coronavirus patients were admitted to the two York Trust hospitals today, and there are 91 Covid-19 patients in hospital, with six on ventilation.
