Monday update: Four areas of York now have coronavirus rates above 2,000

A further 544 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Monday, 3 January).

That takes the cumulative case total to 38,346 – giving an overall infection rate of 18,172.4 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 3,769 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 1,282 (51.5%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 1,586.6 new cases per 100,000 people (3,348 cases in the week to 29 December).

The English national average is 1,508.1, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 1,412.9.

There were no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and five in the last seven days (as at 3 January).

There were four coronavirus patients admitted to the York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust trust on 26 December, and 52 patients in hospital on 28 December, none in a ventilation bed. In the previous seven days, 42 Covid patients were admitted – up six.
