Monday update: Covid rates fall in all but two areas of York

A further 66 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Monday, 25 January).

It takes the cumulative total to 10,738 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,098.3 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 596 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – a decrease of 307 (-34%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 305.8 new cases per 100,000 people (644 cases in the week to 21 January). That’s up from 488.1 in the previous seven days (1,028 cases in the week to 14 January).

The English national average is 420.7, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 247.1.

There have been two more coronavirus-related deaths in the York council area, and 24 in the last seven days (up one / 4.3%).

In North Yorkshire, there were 100 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 24,829  – an infection rate of 4,017.3 cases per 100K.

There are 1,558 cases in Ryedale (up seven), 3,972 in Selby (up 23), 6,392 in Harrogate (up 39), 3,482 in Hambleton (up six), 4,881 in Scarborough (up 10), 2,124 in Richmondshire (up three) and 2,420 in Craven (up 12).

There were five more coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

That takes the total to 464 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).
