Monday update: Another coronavirus death at York NHS Trust as rate tops 300

Another 106 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Monday, 9 August).

That takes the cumulative case total to 18,173 – giving an overall infection rate of 8,612.3 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 729 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 192 (35.8%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 320.0 new cases per 100,000 people (674 cases in the week to 5 August). That’s up from 247.4 in the previous seven days (521 cases in the week to 29 July).

The English national average is 286.9, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 368.3.

There were no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and one in the last seven days (as at 9 August).

  • 7,584 in Selby (up 33) – 305.4
  • 11,778 in Harrogate (up 54) – 268.7
  • 6,546 in Hambleton (up 21) – 237.1
  • 8,208 in Scarborough (up 59) – 271.3
  • 4,035 in Richmondshire (up 18) – 251.2
  • 4,320 in Craven (up 11) – 228.5.

There was one coronavirus-related death reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That takes the total to 606 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals).

There were three coronavirus patients admitted to the York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust trust on 1 August, and 29 in the previous seven days (down five).
