Former Conservative council leader calls on Chancellor to do more to help businesses

Chris Steward broadly welcomed the Chancellor’s budget last week.
But the former Conservative leader of City of York Council believes Rishi Sunak should be doing much more to help businesses hit by the coronavirus outbreak.
In a tweet he said ‘much more drastic action’ was needed:
The first @RishiSunak budget was very good and he’ll be a great chancellor. However he’s gone nowhere near far enough on financing (liquidity and subsidy) to Coronavirus affected businesses. Much more drastic action is urgent, similar to German announcements and likely US ones.
