Council leaders have thanked school and childcare staff across the city as they continue to work over the Easter Bank Holiday Weekend and Easter holidays to support vulnerable children and the children of key workers during the outbreak of coronavirus.

Many schools and early years settings across York will remain open over the holiday period to support those who need their care most.

At the same time, City of York Council has developed lots of information to help support parents and carers in their home schooling.  This includes online learning and activities resources, including a special Easter pack!

Executive member for children, young people and education Cllr Ian Cuthbertson said:

  • I’d like to thank everybody who is working to support children and young people across the city during this period, particularly over the holiday.

Alongside all our other key workers, they are doing an amazing job at a time which is undoubtedly very difficult, both professionally and personally.

I am enormously grateful that they are giving up their time to help others at what would normally be a holiday break.

To help parents and carers, the council has developed online learning and activity resources, including a special Easter Pack.
