A further 26 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Wednesday, 16 June).

That takes the cumulative case total to 12,675 – giving an overall infection rate of 6,018 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 157 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 67 (74.4%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 67.9 new cases per 100,000 people (143 cases in the week to 12 June). That’s up from 30.9 in the previous seven days (65 cases in the week to 5 June).

The English national average is 72.7, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 79.7.

There have been five coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area reported today, and five in the last seven days (as at 16 June).

In North Yorkshire, there were 75 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 30,856 – an infection rate of 4,992.4 cases per 100K.

There are 1,921 cases in Ryedale (no change), 5,369 in Selby (up 15), 7,951 in Harrogate (up 29), 4,303 in Hambleton (up four), 5,677 in Scarborough (up four), 2,694 in Richmondshire (up five) and 2,941 in Craven (up 18).

There were no coronavirus-related deaths reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today.

That leaves the total at 593 across the trust (York and Scarborough Hospitals). The last death was reported on 15 June.

There were no coronavirus patient admitted to the trust on 6 June, and two in the previous seven days.

Tuesday update: Another coronavirus death at the York NHS Trust

Another 21 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Tuesday, 15 June) – and one more death at the NHS Trust.

That takes the cumulative case total to 12,649 – giving an overall infection rate of 6,005.7 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 155 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 85 (121.4%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 62.7 new cases per 100,000 people (132 cases in the week to 11 June). That’s up from 29.4 in the previous seven days (62 cases in the week to 4 June).

The English national average is 69.9, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 77.1.

There have been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area in the last seven days (as at 15 June).

In North Yorkshire, there were 47 new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 30,781 – an infection rate of 4,972.7 cases per 100K.

There are 1,921 cases in Ryedale (up eight), 5,354 in Selby (up ten), 7,922 in Harrogate (up ten), 4,299 in Hambleton (up five), 5,673 in Scarborough (up five), 2,689 in Richmondshire (up five) and 2,923 in Craven (up four).

There was one coronavirus-related death reported by York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust today, the first since 3 June.

Monday update: Delta variant is dominant Covid strain in York as cases rise

The Delta variant is now the dominant strain of the virus in York and cases are rising, it was revealed on the day the lifting of restrictions was delayed.

York public health leaders are urging people to book their second dose of the vaccine for eight weeks after the first – saying the vaccine is more effective against the Delta variant if people have had both doses.

The latest provisional rate for the city is 55.1 cases per 100,000 and Fiona Phillips from the public health team warned it is set to rise.

Another 20 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Monday, 14 June).

That takes the cumulative total to 12,628 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,995.7 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 144 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 82 (132.3%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 55.1 new cases per 100,000 people (116 cases in the week to 10 June). That’s up from 28.5 in the previous seven days (60 cases in the week to 3 June).

The English national average is 67.1, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 74.2.

A further 25 coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Friday, 11 June).

That takes the cumulative total to 12,562 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,964.4 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 113 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 53 (88.3%) week on week.

Weekly York data

Triage: As at 7 June there had been 70 Covid triages in the York area in the previous seven days. There were 65 last week.

Symptomatic Covid: As at 10 June, the Covid Symptom App estimates 331 per 100,000 in York with symptomatic Covid (responses from a sample of 3,954 people). It was 14 last week. The peak rate was 1,283 on 7 January.

Ranking: York is currently ranked 65th out of 149 Upper Tier Local Authorities (UTLAs) in England on case rates, with a rank of 1 indicating the lowest seven day rate. It was 85th last week.

Exceedance: The PHE ‘Exceedance’ rating compares the number of new cases over a 14 day period with the previous six weeks and provides a red-amber-green rating to indicate if the trend is worsening. The rating for York is Red. It was Amber last week.

Testing: As at 8 June, the seven-day positivity rate in York (Pillar 2 PCR tests only) was 2.66%. That’s up from 1.73% last week. The national and regional averages are 3.3% and 3.9% respectively. The latest 7 day positivity rate in York for Pillar 1 tests only was 0.26% (down from 0.5%). The national average is 0.3%.

Local contact tracing: Between 10 March and 4 June, 291 referrals had been actioned by the local contact tracing service. Of the referrals actioned, 273 (93.8%) were successful and 18 (6.2%) were unable to be reached via phone or home visit.

Cases in care homes: As at 10 June, there were no care homes in the York area with any cases of Covid-19 affecting either a staff member or resident.

Cases in schools: In the seven days up to 31 May there were 14 children of primary and secondary school age who tested positive across eight schools, down from 19 children the week before.

Deaths: In the ONS data up to 5 June, 396 coronavirus-related deaths were recorded as having occurred for York residents (228 in hospital, 135 in care homes, 25 at home/elsewhere and eight in a hospice). That’s no change on the week before. The number of deaths per 100,000 of population in York is 188.02 which is lower than the national average of 232.10.

Covid bed occupancy: As at 8 June, there were two confirmed Covid-19 patients in General and Acute beds at York Hospital, up from one the week before. The peak number was 157 on 19 January. There were no confirmed Covid-19 patients in the Intensive Treatment Unit.

A further ten coronavirus cases were confirmed in York today (Friday, 4 June).

That takes the cumulative total to 12,449 – giving an overall infection rate of 5,910.7 cases per 100,000 people.

In the last seven days 60 people in York have tested positive for Covid-19 – up 17 (39.5%) week on week.

The rolling seven-day rate in York is 26.1 new cases per 100,000 people (55 cases in the week to 31 May). That’s up from 15.2 in the previous seven days (32 cases in the week to 24 May).

The English national average is 33.7, the Yorkshire and Humber average is 39.6.

There have been no coronavirus deaths in the City of York Council area in the last seven days.

In North Yorkshire, there were five new coronavirus cases today, taking the cumulative total to 30,260 – an infection rate of 4,895.2 cases per 100K.

There are 1,894 cases in Ryedale (no change), 5,226 in Selby (up one), 7,761 in Harrogate (up one), 4,239 in Hambleton (up three), 5,631 in Scarborough (no change), 2,653 in Richmondshire (no change) and 2,856 in Craven (no change).
