York has a brand new radio station – and it’s coming to you live from the pub.

Two Rivers Radio is the city’s community radio station. It began broadcasting earlier this month, live from a pop-up studio at the Corner Pin pub on Tanner Row.

Listeners can tune in to the best in community radio that York has to offer every Monday between midday and 11pm.

Station manager Jez Russell said: “The Two Rivers Radio schedule includes regular shows from community members on topics as diverse as environmental and social justice, wrestling and computer games to music and rollercoasters.

“Our music presenters are passionate about their genres and have eclectic tastes!”

He said Two Rivers Radio is a grassroots, community project with plans and ambitions to grow.

The team will be “developing its schedule, broadcasting more regularly until we are running a 24/7 service and ultimately becoming an integral part of the fabric of the city,” Jez said.

“Two Rivers Radio will be widely regarded as a valued element within the city of York’s local media mix.”

They are actively encouraging people to contact the station if they wish to get involved. Jez said: “No experience required, although don’t let having experience put you off!

“We need people with experience to bring that and support those members that don’t.”
