What would you do for the chance of a luxury cruise to the Caribbean?
Well a brave couple from York have agreed to have their every move controlled by the good users of Facebook and Twitter.
Freddy Berry and Karen Pacaud, aged 57 and 52, entered the competition to win the 14-cruise on board P&O Cruises newest ship Britannia.
They were chosen as the winners by a panel of judges. Freddy and Karen have never cruised before, and the trip is designed to push them out of their comfort zone.
Social media overlords
To help ensure they experience the all the sights, activities, entertainment and dining possible, they will have no control over what they will be doing.
Everything that they do on board and on shore will be chosen for them by thousands of followers of P&O Cruises on Facebook and Twitter.
Even more daunting, everything that they do will be shown live on the social media channels – from what they wear, where they go, what they do and what they see.
It shouldn’t be too onerous, though. Freddy, a business consultant, and Karen, who runs a small French-themed cafe in Boroughbridge, have rather a lot of luxury living to choose from on board, including
- 13 bars
- 13 restaurants
- nine theatres and show lounges
- four swimming pools
- a cookery club
- library, and
- gallery with a £1m art collection.
Lots of places to go
Plus there are all those shore excursions as the cruise from Barbados to St Lucia visits Curacao, Aruba, Grenada, St Vincent, Dominica, Antigua and St Maarten.
P&O Cruises senior vice president Paul Ludlow said:
Where else could they relax in the spa’s thermal suite, zip line through the rainforest, rustle up a two course meal in the cookery club, enjoy a world-class stage show and dine from a menu created by the legendary godfather of British cooking, Marco Pierre White, all in the space of one day?
