Issued by City of York Council
Householders in York are being urged to claim a free energy check which could lead to free insulation or grants for improved heating – as just 60 more remain to be booked before 30 June.
The checks can lead to eligible people being awarded grants for free cavity wall and loft insulation or for new, more-efficient heating systems, such as A-rated boilers. It’s a chance for lower fuel bills, more comfortable homes and health benefits all in one!
The free energy checks are offered as part of the Warmer Winter project, run by City of York Council in partnership with York Age UK and Yorkshire Energy Partnership.
They aim to protect residents by helping older and vulnerable people, or those on a low income, to get access to services and grants which make a real difference to the warmth and energy-efficiency of their homes. Those caring for children under five years old are also eligible.
Councillor Tracey Simpson-Laing, City of York Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Housing and Adult Social Care said: “We are urging residents to take advantage of the energy checks before the scheme – and its funding – runs out.
“A warm, energy-efficient home can make a huge impact on the health of children and vulnerable people and it’s a great way to help residents avoid the trap of fuel poverty. We need to make sure as many residents as possible benefit from these checks, so call today.”
Denise Hall, at Yorkshire Energy Partnership, is encouraging people to pick up the phone and claim as soon as possible. “It’s easy to book an audit, just call Yorkshire Energy Partnership on 01904 545 020 and quote Warmer Winter,” she said.
Do you know anyone who can benefit from this scheme or could you do with some extra help this winter? If so, please contact Denise on 01904 545020.
