Drivers be warned – a busy York through road is soon to be shut for more than two months.
Kent Street will close from Monday 7 August at 9.30am until Sunday 8 October.
That’s nine weeks in total.
Kent Street, York
Kent Street, behind York Barbican, will close between Fawcett Street and its junction with Barbican Road and Heslington Road.
The closure will allow “deep drainage works followed by carriageway resurfacing”.
According to City of York Council: “Resurfacing works are taking place in this location. This type of works is critical to maintain a highway as it renews structural integrity, levels the surface, increases the load bearing capacity and reduces traffic noise.
“The work is preventative, and reduces potholes and the need for smaller repairs in the long term.”
Diversions will be put in place.
