Join national treasure Barry Humphries in an intimate show that’s purely about himself.
His well-known alter-egos such as Dame Edna, Sir Les Patterson and Sandy Stone won’t be making an appearance – as Barry will be peeling off his mask to introduce the man behind the clown.
It will be an evening of personal, startling and sometimes outrageous stories from Barry’s colourful life and career.
Barry Humphries – The Man Behind the Mask is at Grand Opera House York on Wednesday 13 April 2022.

“This is a show in which I am the principal character; it’s not Les, it’s not Edna, it’s not Sandy Stone,” said Barry.
“It is really about this character called ‘me’. I’m not in disguise.”
Audiences can expect a night of laughter, drama and more than a few surprises!
There will be an opportunity to ask questions and the magic of technology may even allow appearances – or interruptions – by unexpected guests…
Tickets start from £49.40 and are available via the Grand Opera House website, or call the box office on 0844 871 7615.
