A menagerie of grass animals are returning to York.
York BID have revealed the return of their much-loved grass animal sculptures and colourful summer seating for 2025.
You’ll be able to find these fun, photo-worthy sculptures in familiar places such as Exhibition Square, Eye of York, Museum Gardens and Duncombe Place. And new for this year is a grass horse seat in a new seating area in Davygate.
Carl Alsop, operations manager at York BID, said: “The summer seating and grass animals have become a real favourite with locals and visitors.
“They add 400 additional places to sit in the city, lots of colour, character and even more fun to the city centre – plus they invite people to slow down and enjoy what York has to offer.”
In addition, York BID have confirmed the return of the bumblebee friendly planters to sites across the city centre.
This project is part of York BID’s wider mission to enhance public spaces, support local businesses, and create a welcoming city for all.
And there’s more to come! York BID will be launching a brand-new family trail: Tommy Treebark’s Wild Adventure, featuring vibrant animal illustrations on benches across the city. It’s free, fun, and perfect for families to explore from Friday 25 April. Watch this space for more details!
