Shop York is underway to boost city retailers – and give shoppers the chance to win some amazing prizes.
Launched by the York BID with Indie York, the initiative runs throughout February.
To take part, collect a Shop York Passport from Visit York or a one of the 80-plus participating businesses.
Make a purchase of £5 or more in one of those shops and earn one sticker on your passport.
If you collect five stickers from five different shops during February you can enter the prize draw.
Among the prizes are:
- a £500 York Gift Card
- a £200 Fenwick gift card
- a book lover’s hamper
- a winter wardrobe refresh.
York BID project manager Rachel Bean told YorkMix: “It’s really a great initiative, and we hope everyone gets behind it.
“York has 65% independently owned businesses. It really does make a difference shopping locally, supporting your town to be the place you want to live in, the kind of high streets you want to see.”
Alice Bentley of Indie York said that the city’s shops are “incredibly resilient. But if we don’t use them, we will lose them.
“If you shop local, you don’t know how much it means to the people that run and own these businesses.
“You are getting something quicker and generally cheaper, and it’s just better for the whole community.”
