An exciting summer of film is coming to York again this year – as ‘huge’ open air cinema returns to Castle Howard.
Adventure Cinema are once again bringing their spectacular outdoor cinema experience to the grounds of the stately home, with a mix of rom-com classics, musicals, family favourites, and a special Queen-themed night.
Taking place at Castle Howard from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 July, there will be five films showing over the weekend.
Kicking off the three days of film fun on the Friday, is the rom-com classic Bridget Jones’ Diary. Saturday’s big screening is a Queen Outdoor Cinema Spectacular – with a showing of a classic Queen concert and 2018’s Bohemian Rhapsody, as well as a sing-along with Queen’s greatest hits. The night will also feature an 80s disco, street food and bar, and 80s fancy dress is encouraged.
Sunday is a triple-bill of family-friendly and musical fun! It’ll start with two Julia Donalsdon & Axel Scheffler animations – The Gruffalo’s Child and Zog – followed by a showing of Andrea Bocelli’s 30th celebration concert.
The weekend will finish with a Wicked Sing-a-Long, the smash hit adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.
Ticket prices vary for each showing, but film-goers can choose between a standard ticket – where you bring your own blanket or camping chair – or a premium ticket option, which includes a luxury deck chair in a prime position.
There will hot food and snacks available as well as an on-site bar, and people are welcome to bring their own picnics and drinks.
