Thousands of people flocked to the first ever Micklegate Run Soapbox Challenge on Sunday (August 28).
But only one looked like the spitting image of a legendary movie star…
This photograph of the crowd at the hugely successful event was shared today on the official Autohorn Micklegate Run Soapbox ChallengeFacebook page.
Is it… could it be Pulp Fiction and Jurassic Park star Samuel L Jackson?
This led to spectators at the event disagreeing over whether the movie star really had spent a day at the races in York.
Ben Christopher said “100% was him”. But Robert Shaw asserted “Unfortunately I saw him face to face and I can say it was not Mr Jackson.”
John Taunton also moved to quash the excitement. “I stood next to him for a bit and, whilst the thought did cross my mind, I came to the conclusion that it wasn’t. Sorry…”
Just to be mischievous the Facebook page administrators threw in the fact that the same Mr J is no stranger to the North of England. He filmed one of his latest movies, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, partly in Blackpool, although that was some time ago.
But then, who knows? After all Russell Crowe was in Tang Hall only last month…
