Hide & Seek: The Aftermath of the Gunpowder Plot

A new exhibition at the Bar Convent. Would you be able to recognise an illegal catholic household during the reign of the Tudors and Stuarts? From hiding holes and disguises to invisible ink and objects concealed as everyday household items; find the clues and explore the collections to uncover the ingenious ways that Catholics kept their true religion hidden from the authorities and escaped being caught!

NYMR Light Spectacular

Marvel at our heritage carriages, decorated with thousands of lights, before departing from Pickering Station for an awe-inspiring journey alongside a DJ-Mix of music that will get you in the mood for a party the whole family will enjoy. Each passenger will be given their own interactive LED wristband which is synchronised to the music and passengers become part of the show.

Half term at the National Railway Museum

There’s lots for Flying Scotsman fans and little engineers to enjoy this October half term. The world’s most famous locomotive, Flying Scotsman will be back in the museum—this time on the turntable in Great Hall for a 360-degree view! There’s also the new hands-on Wonderlab gallery, the Flying Scotsman VR experience, and more.

Dark Skies Fringe Festival

The Dark Skies Fringe Festival is back with lots of activities and opportunities to appreciate the wonders of the night sky. It has a jam-packed programme full of exciting after dark adventures for the full family to explore. There’s all manners of night walks, stargazing aplenty, daytime adventures and craft activities, bat-box making, mindful experiences and more.

Match, measure and make is the new free family nature trail, just for half term. Making the most of the season, it’s all about autumn this week. Match the colours you find as you explore, measure the biggest and smallest leaf you can find and make some origami.

The Worst Witch

Pick Me Up Theatre present The Worst Witch, featuring original songs and music by Luke Potter with magic aplenty and a large helping of Mildred’s unique brand of total chaos. The Play Tent at Spark

Disney’s Frozen Jr
