Everyone has a view about transport in York. Motorists have concerns about jams, bus users about timetables, cyclists about safety – and we all hate potholes.
Now’s your chance to put your points and questions direct to the people who matter.
All are invited to York Cycling Hustings Plus, also known as the cycling and sustainable transport hustings on Thursday (April 30).
Candidates ready to answer
Cllr David Levene, Labour cabinet member for transport
Cllr Andy D’Agorne, York Green Party leader
Cllr Tony Richardson, York Conservative transport spokesperson
Cllr Ian Cuthbertson, York Liberal Democrat
Ken Guest, UKIP York Central prospective parliamentary candidate
Organised by the York Cycle Campaign and 20’s Plenty for York, the hustings will not include opening statements about manifestos.
Instead it focuses on political candidates answering audience questions – so come along and ask them.
Editor of YorkMix Chris Titley is the independent chair.
Doors open at 6pm and there will be pizzas available to buy. At 6.30pm Anna Semlyen 20’s Plenty For Us national campaign manager will update on National 20mph progress.
The hustings start at 7pm, followed by a green transport open mic with songs and poetry till 10pm.
Children are welcome in the function room and young people with questions will get ask them first.
The event is scheduled on the same day as the Women And Cycling Conference at York Racecourse, to attract both locals and UK wide audience members with an interest in cycling and sustainable transport.
The Winning Post back garden will be open for secure bike storage.
