Free city centre parking is being offered to all NHS and critical care workers during the period of lockdown.
It’s the result of a partnership between parking operator Anglo Management and St George’s Church in York.
MD for Anglo Management John Logan said: “The whole country is united in thanking all the NHS and critical health workers who are risking their own health to help the sick and more vulnerable amongst us.
“This is one small way of making a contribution towards the current crisis and to say thank you to these brave workers.
“When the lockdown lifts we will continue showing our appreciation by offering significant discounts on parking for the forseeable future to these groups.”
Anglo operates a 38-space permit car park on Chapel Row, off George Street in York.
The spaces are usually reserved for a hotel, which is currently closed.
Some of the free parking is here, but the company also has other practically empty car parks which health and care workers could use.
