The Rules

1. Only amateur artists, photographers and poets may enter.
2. Art, Poetry and Photography must have a food theme, preferably Yorkshire food.
3. Art, Poetry and Photography must be original work and not previously published in a collection, newspaper or magazine.
4. The entrant’s name must not appear on the art, photo or poem.
5. Poems must not be longer than 40 lines, and must fit on a single A4 page. Poems must be in English.
6. Formats: Art, Poetry and photography must be submitted via the form on our entry page here. Poetry attachments must be submitted in Word (.doc or .docx) format. Art must be submitted in JPEG or PDF format. Photography must be submitted in JPEG format. Photographs should be in a lower resolution: 1400 x 1050 pixels. Shortlisted entrants will be contacted and given the opportunity to submit higher resolution images. No file should be larger than 2MB.
7. Amateurs may enter as many pieces/poems as they wish. Artwork, photography and poetry may not be amended or edited after submission.
6. No entrant will win more than one prize.
8. Closing date: midnight on Sunday, September 27, 2015.
9. The competition is open to anybody aged under 16 or over 16. Entries from outside the UK are eligible.
10. Copyright in submitted poems, artwork and photographs remains with the author. Entrants agree to allow their poem, artwork or photograph to be featured fee-free on, and the website of York Food Festival. Entrants also agree that their submission can be displayed during the Food and Drink Festival, in a venue in York.
11. York Food Festival directors and YorkMix directors and staff are not eligible to enter.
12. Restaurants, cafes, bars etc. are not eligible to enter using their business name.
13. Winners will be announced at an event during the Festival.
14. The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
15. Entrants agree to have their email address added to the York Food Festival and mailing list, but can unsubscribe at any time.
16. Judges will view all entries; all entries will be presented to the judge anonymously.
17. Entry implies acceptance of all rules.
