Folk music festival The Magpies Festival is making a return this summer.
Following its sell-out success in its first year in 2021, this year the festival will be one day longer.
The Magpies Festival will take place on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 August 2022 in the parkland of Sutton Park, near York.
The festival will feature some of the UK’s finest folk, acoustic and americana artists, including Seth Lakeman, Rob Heron & The Tea Pad Orchestra, The Jellyman’s Daughter, Honey & The Bear, Elanor Moss, David Ward Maclean – and The Magpies themselves.
The festival is run by Yorkshire-based transatlantic folk band The Magpies. The young, female team are passionate about championing gender equality in the music industry.
They’ve ensured gender parity in both line-up and staff – as well as providing a safe and comfortable environment for female musicians and festival goers.
Festival director Holly Brandon says, “We are so excited to put on The Magpies Festival and for it to be even bigger and better than our first year.
“We were over the moon at the response to 2021’s festival, from the incredible performances from world class folk musicians to the high energy spirit that our attendees brought along – it felt like a whole new feel to a folk festival.”
