Two fly-tippers caught dumping rubbish on a lane near York were successfully challenged by community champions this weekend.
A white van arrived arrived in West Wood Lane, Askham Bryan, on Sunday morning (Sunday).
Two women “decided to throw several bits of rubbish into the countryside,” reported York West Police.
The women were challenged by Rural Watch volunteers. The fly-tippers then apologised, collecting the rubbish and left the area.
On their Facebook page, York West Police called this a ‘fantastic’ effort.
“Great community work to protect the countryside. Challenging safely something that isn’t right! Well done!”
