Five hurt in three-car crash in York – one casualty airlifted to hospital
Five people have been injured in a three-car crash this lunchtime (Sunday).
The incident happened at about 12.15pm at Wigginton.
Police, ambulance and two fire crews, from Huntington and Acomb, went to the scene. The Wigginton to Helmsley road was closed for a time.
Firefighters cut two casualties free from the wreckage. They then assisted ambulance crews in administering first aid and oxygen.
Four people were taken to hospital by road ambulance. One was airlifted to hospital.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews also assisted removing a horse from a horse box that had been spooked when the air ambulance had landed.
“The horse box was not involved in the incident.”
