Updated: Firefighters tackle unsafe structure in York city centre
Firefighters were in York city centre this lunchtime (Monday).
Crews from York and Huntington went to on Coney Street in response to a report of an unsafe structure.
They made safe some loose cladding at the top of one of the commercial buildings on the street.
It follows the high winds from Storm Malik and Storm Corrie over the weekend.
The fire crews have now left.
Shortly afterwards the Huntington firefighters were again “dealing with an incident that involves a dangerous structure due to the recent storm,” Station Manager Tony Walker tweeted.
“The crew will remove and secure loose items to ensure public safety. It is the property owner’s responsibility to have the work repaired.”
