Fire crews have been tackling a fire at a warehouse near Selby this morning (Friday).
They were called to the incident at Market Weighton Road, Riccall, at 5.17am to “a fire measuring approximately 5m x 5m consisting of recycled crisps,” said a North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson.
“Crews extinguished the fire and dampened down the contents of the warehouse. The cause of the fire was self combustion.”
Station Manager Tony Walker tweeted at 6am: “Crews from Selby are currently dealing with a fire at a recycling plant in the Riccall area.
“Two hose reels and two breathing apparatus are being used to extinguish the fire.”
